Capturing geometric shapes and eye-catching design elements is fun. Abigail’s favourite architect in Perth is Joe Chindarsi. The goal is to capture the original design intent showing the building in context with the environment. Think one-point perspective and creative detail shots. Classic, creative, stunning imagery which will win the architect awards. Architectural photography is exacting work. It is quite different to photographing for a real estate agent. Lines, perspective and great natural light are of utmost importance and Abigail adapts her style accordingly. Images made at twilight can be wonderful.
Abigail provides photography for construction companies and developers that predictably increase sales. They also require a different approach. She will be looking for the ‘landmark’ factor of the structure. Publishers and editors though, often focus on the artistry and textural elements of the architecture.
It all begins with a clear brief long from the architect before the camera comes out of the bag. And it’s all about effective story-telling. This type of photography requires patience and sometimes more than one visit to the building at different times of the day.
