I was sent to photograph life at the Carina mine site. It was an early start – dawn flight out of Perth with all my photo gear. I had two days to capture the staff at work at the camp and also on the mine site itself. I just love this work. It’s very challenging because of the heat and dust and you have to be fit to cope with the physicality of it. It’s mostly a man’s world and they don’t necessarily offer to carry your equipment for you! Having said that, the experience of being there in the outback is out of this world. The night I was there it was Fish Night. An amazing array of prawns, salmon and crayfish and lots of fresh veggies. I took hundreds of images so it’s hard to just choose a few to showcase but you will get the feel of the site I think.
