Serco Pulse Awards – celebrating people at work on every level and from every part of the company whose behaviours are making a big difference – bringing service and Serco to life. They provide role models that help shape their business in the future. For these awards, energetic images are required both in a studio setting and also as they interact with others. It’s always fun helping them to showcase their personalities and come up with great imagery.
Photographing people at work is fun. I love to celebrate people at work brining out their dynamism and professionalism. Showing these hard workers for their outstanding contribution to their organisation is a privilege. I find that by approaching people with confidence and humour is best. They often respond more positively but sometimes it’s a challenge to gain their trust. I don’t carry around a lot of equipment to do this kind of work – just a couple of cameras with different lenses and maybe a flash for dark areas. However, using available light often is best and less intrusive. Having an assistant to fill out model releases is great. Finding the right location is all important and speed is of the essence. These people are busy. Make sure their protective gear is as it should be because anything missing and the image is useless.
