Back in the 1980’s I had a studio in Cambridge and specialised in black and white portraiture. It’s always been my favourite medium. I forget who said this but it’s a well known quote and goes something like this – “When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls!” Your attention is drawn to their face and in particular their eyes. This was a very special session with Lorenzo Matteoli who is a distinguished professor of architecture in Milan and somewhat of a philosopher. He has far sighted visions for the city of Perth and in particular, Scarborough, where he lives some of the year. We’re honoured to count him as a very good friend.
